Dear Supporter,
We’ve broken ground! Thanks to supporters like you, Medical Mission International, with its affiliate Fundacion Mision Medica El Salvador, has moved earth at the future site of the David V. King Medical Center. (the “Center”)
With the funds currently in hand, it should be possible to construct and open the Center and provide medical, dental, obstetrical and emergency services. These services will be located around the outer core of the building and will be fully functional when the Center opens.
The inner core of the building will be devoted to two modern surgical suites. While the electrical and air conditioning duct work will be in place in the inner core, none of it will be activated until we complete Phase II of our fundraising – scheduled to begin in September 2010.
Phase II will hopefully raise five hundred thousand dollars which will allow us to completely outfit the two state- of- the- art surgical suites. If we should raise additional funds, they will be applied to Phase III which is to build housing for the incoming medical missions for up to 16 doctors/nurses on a site adjacent to the Center.
The Center will create conditions where US doctors and medical professionals can serve the most vulnerable populations of El Salvador while working side by side with Salvadoran doctors and aspiring surgeons. Construction is scheduled for completion in September 2010.
Once again we want to thank you for your post generosity and future support.
Very truly yours,
Bradley D. King
Our mission is to provide short-term medical and surgical care to people in under served regions of the world who have limited access to medical service, particularly to women and children. Our current projects are based in rural El Salvador .
Medical Mission International (MMI) was inspired by the success of Dr. Roberto Arevalo Araujo and his group of talented physicians, nurses, and technicians, who comprise Medical Mission of Mercy (MMM) and who have been visiting El Salvador since the signing of the peace accords in 1992. MMM received a Nobel Peace Prize nomination in 2001. MMI was founded by David V. King, a business man and philanthropist, and Dr. Roberto Araujo .
We seek to fulfill this mission through the construction of new medical facilities in areas currently lacking modern medical facilities and through the renovation and modernization of existing medical facilities.
